Beauty || Stop Abusing Photoshop!

How often do you feel it necessary to edit your photos before you post them? Sure, fixing red eye and a couple of ginormous zits will help to fix up a picture before putting them up on Facebook or Instagram. However, a lot of natural detail gets lost in translation during the editing process, and even big time magazines and editorials fall prey to the poreless airbrushed look. This is when someone's face starts to look almost unrecognizeable, and dare I say it, less human. Stop the abuse! One of the greatest details to record in a photograph are the tiny details that make someone unique and special. For example, a friend of mine who models recently complained to me about how some of her photos are heavily photoshopped to make her lighter-skinned and freckle-less. And she actually loves her freckles!

Another friend of mine (Nina V, a model-cum-photographer whom I work with very often) even requested that I apply fake freckles on her on yesterday's photoshoot. Sure, they're not real freckles, and I just painted them on her, but check out how dynamic the portrait looks just because of the added texture to her skin <3

So basically, when doing your makeup for a regular day, try and be comfortable with just a light application of foundation to get rid of uneven skin tone, without covering up the natural luminescense and character of your skin. Even up close, these features really add up to the essence of what makes you beautiful. Steer clear of too much Photoshop and embrace your unique brand of beauty!

Bottom line, don't rely on the blur tool too much,a dn let your skin shine :)

Do you have a particularly unique feature that makes you feel extra pretty?
